Blessing of Food

Come and have your Easter food blessed here in our church. The ritual of assembling Easter baskets with symbolic foods and having a priest or deacon perform a Rite of Blessing with holy water on the day before Easter dates back to the early 12th century in Poland. This tradition was then followed by many other ethnic traditions and continues here in Newton to this very day.
