Sacristans

Upon the arrival of Father ST, this new ministry was instituted. At first, this ministry was only for the weekdays and now on the weekends, funerals and hopefully very soon, for weddings.

This ministry which is open to both women and men, allow individual parishioners to take an active part in preparing for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist during the week and on weekends.  The major task is the preparation of the credence table which holds the chalices, purificators, ablution bowl and corporal as well as making sure the proper amount of hosts and wine are put (either on the credence table during weekday Masses) or at the back of the church for weekends, Funerals and Weddings.   

Again, with Father ST's propensity for being "OCD," he has requested that the credence table (that is the table set to the side of the altar) be set the same and exact way each and every time.  This not only assuages his need to be orderly, but more importantly, it allows the altar servers to always find the things that they need in the same place at each and every Mass.

Over the past several months, one person has been exemplary in making sure the sacristy, daily Mass and weekend Masses are all in order and ready for the wonderful celebration of the Holy Eucharist.  Therefore, we are proud to appoint Mrs. Carolyn Kelly as the "head sacristan" at Saint Joseph Church.  Carolyn is hardworking, dedicated and about as "OCD" as her parish priest.  We look forward to working with Carolyn for many years to come.  Congratulations and welcome to "team positive!"
